Another day of aviation history

On 17 December 1903 the Wright brothers
followed the Montgolfier brothers into history by making a (very short!)
powered flight in the world's first aeroplane at Kill Devil Hill, Kittyhawk.
On 23 March 2018 Beech 18, G-BKGM, a successor to their
ingenuity, paid homage at the adjacent First Flight airfield.
A Beech (sic)
picnic followed the visit to the monument to Orville and Wilbur's efforts.

Leaving Kittyhawk for Georgia the team arrived at an isolated agricultural aviation strip near Statesboro. The engineers were packing up for the day but gave us use of their ex-state police Chevvy to find a haven for the night in this deprived backwater.

It was a bit crowded in the car |
Checking in the Baymont Suites (well a bit of a posh name for what it was) we were glad to have found somewhere to put our tired heads to rest.
Wonderful warm temperatures greeted us prompting both Allie and John to go out for a run. Dinner was spent in a pleasant steak house that didn't have an alcohol licence but luckily we still had one of our own and were allowed to celebrate another great day with a good drink! Thank you John for your hard days of work!
